Scoring Explosion for Heritage

Senior quarterback Bryan Brosnan completed 7 of 11 passes for 130 yards and three touchdowns, and Heritage beat visiting Hyde, 61-0, Tuesday night in a non-district game.

Brosnan, who was the AA Dulles District's second-leading passer last year, was one of four players to account for at least two touchdowns. Running back Matt Lucas scored twice and finished with 103 yards on 12 carries; running back William Bray had two touchdowns and 86 yards on seven carries; and running back Chris Smith also had two scores included in his 48 yards on four carries.

Smith began the scoring with a 15-yard run in the first quarter. Lucas followed with a four-yard run to make it 13-0. The Pride (2-0) scored 21 points in the second quarter on a 20-yard Lucas run and a pair of Brosnan touchdown passes. The first covered 13 yards and went to wide receiver Quinn Tibbs. The second went for 27 yards to wide receiver Pierce Bullock.

A Narrow Win for Stone Bridge

Senior running back Shamar Knight-Justice ran for 144 yards on 23 carries to lead Stone Bridge to a 21-14 road victory over West Springfield.

Knight-Justice scored the first touchdown of the game on a 16-yard run in the first quarter. The Bulldogs added another touchdown in the quarter on quarterback Terrence Glenn's five-yard run. Glenn (2 for 6, 22 yards, one interception) did most of his damage with his feet rather than his arm, running for 95 yards on 15 carries.

Nate Hawkins scored on a one-yard run in the second quarter for a 21-0 lead at halftime.

West Springfield scored its two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, including a 20-yard touchdown on a fumble return by Jason Brand.
