Bat Caught in Apartment

ABINGDON DR. W., 1400 block, Aug. 30. Animal control captured a bat in an apartment and took it to the city shelter, where it was euthanized. Results of a rabies test were unavailable.

Pit Bull Is Hit by Car

ALFRED ST. N., 900 block, Aug. 31. A female pit bull was hit by a car. Animal control took the severely injured dog to the city shelter, where it was euthanized.

Spa Treatment for Rabbits

The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is hosting a rabbit grooming event from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Viola Lawson Animal Shelter, 4101 Eisenhower Ave. For $25, pets will receive a pedicure and a massage. Arlington

The following case was handled recently by the Animal Welfare League of Arlington, which operates the county animal shelter and provides animal control services to Arlington County. Hawk Flies Into Screened Porch

40TH ST. N., 4700 block, Sept. 3. A Cooper's hawk flew into a screened porch of a house, breaking the screen, then became trapped inside the porch. An animal control officer corralled the flailing bird toward an open door, then picked it up with a large towel and released it. The bird flew toward trees.
