LAKE NORMANDY LANE, 12600 block, 8 p.m. Sept. 2. A person saw a man approach a house, heard glass break and saw the man drive away in the resident's car. Police found that the residence had been entered and items were missing. A 45-year-old Leesburg man was charged with burglary and grand larceny.

ASSAULTS

WILLSTON DR., 6100 block, 10:30 p.m. Sept. 3. A man, 44, was stabbed in the lower body during an argument. He reportedly refused treatment. A female acquaintance, 52, of Georgia was charged with felonious assault.

ROBBERIES

JOHN MARSHALL DR., 2900 block, 10 p.m. Sept. 2. A group of men accosted a 26-year-old male pedestrian, who was struck in the upper body with an unidentified object. They then took cash and other property from him and fled. He was treated at a hospital.

LEE HWY., 7300 block, 1:30 p.m. Sept. 3. A man on a bicycle grabbed a purse from a female pedestrian, then rode away. Police tracked the man to a residence, and an investigation revealed that he had allegedly been involved in a robbery and an attempted robbery in August. A 22-year-old District man was charged with grand larceny, robbery and attempted robbery.

Mount Vernon District

HOMICIDES

RICHMOND HWY., 6400 block, Aug. 29. Eric Miller, 45, of the 5600 block of Upland Woods Drive, Alexandria, reportedly died of blunt force trauma to the upper body in a motel room during an argument on or about Aug. 29. His body was found in a burned car in the District and an investigation led to the arrest of a 46-year-old man of no fixed address. He was charged in the District with felony destruction of property and being a fugitive from justice. Fairfax County police were seeking his extradition in connection with Miller's death.

ROBBERIES

RICHMOND HWY., 6600 block, 9 p.m. Sept. 4. A gunman robbed a 33-year-old woman of a purse as she sat in her vehicle in a parking

lot.

RUSSELL RD., 8200 block, 9 p.m. Sept. 2. Three juveniles robbed a 43-year-old male pedestrian of cash, then ran. He was treated at the scene for injuries.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

ABBOTTSBURY ROW, 6200 block, 5:30 p.m. Sept. 5. Two male juveniles entered a residence, assaulted two women, ages 18 and 20, and took property. Both women reportedly received minor injuries. The women knew one of the juveniles. A 16-year-old Kingstowne area male was charged with simple assault and burglary.

A man told a cabdriver that he would obtain money from his mother to pay for his fare from Baltimore Washington International Airport to the Burke area. The man returned to the cab a short time later and assaulted the driver, then took his cell phone and cash. The driver reportedly received minor injuries.

CHAIN BRIDGE RD., 3500 block, 1:42 a.m. Sept. 5. A group of people in the lobby of a hotel struck a female after she pushed another woman who was dancing with a man. The woman received a bloody nose and small cuts on her face.

FAIRFAX BLVD., 9900 block, 1:46 a.m. Aug. 31. An assault occurred during an argument in a restaurant. A 25-year-old Fairfax area man was charged with assault.

FAIRFAX BLVD., 10400 block, 2:28 a.m. Sept. 5. A woman assaulted a female in a restroom of a restaurant. A 28-year-old Centreville woman was charged with assault.

NORTH STREET AND UNIVERSITY DRIVE, 2:09 p.m. Sept. 5. A man confronted a male pedestrian who was harassing motorists, and they fought. The pedestrian, a 24-year-old man, was charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. The other man was treated for injuries at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital.

STRATFORD AVE., 10200 block, Aug. 28 to Sept. 3. A person interviewed several people who replied to an advertisement for a room to rent. The people each paid the interviewer a deposit for the room and were given a date to move in, but when they arrived they were advised that the person was no longer there and that the room was not available.

shattered.

MONROE ST., 1000 block, 9:41 a.m. Sept. 3. A rock was thrown at the windshield of a truck.

SPRING ST., 100 block, 7:53 a.m. Aug. 29. Pink paint-ball pellets were shot at a wall.

SPRUCE CT., 400 block, 7:44 a.m. Aug. 28. A vehicle was scratched and lens covers were broken.

WORLDGATE DR., 13000 block, 11:53 p.m. Sept. 3. A man threw a table through a window. A 23-year-old Sterling man was charged with destruction of property.

ASSAULTS

CEDAR LANE SE, 200 block, 12:59 a.m. Sept. 2. Police were called about a disturbance at an apartment. A 33-year-old Vienna man was charged with domestic assault.

MEADOW LANE SW, 600 block, 10:27 a.m. Sept. 6. Police were called about a disturbance at a residence. A 36-year-old person was charged with domestic assault.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

CEDAR LANE SE, 200 block, 1:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 6. A computer was stolen from a business.

DELANO DR. SE, 500 block, 4 p.m. Sept. 3 to 9 a.m. Sept. 4. A cordless drill was stolen from an unlocked shed at a residence.

FAIRWAY DR. NE, 1100 block, 11 a.m. Sept. 2 to 12:30 a.m. Sept. 3. A lawn mower was stolen from a porch of a residence.

MAPLE AVE. E., 100 block, 3:30 to 4 p.m. Aug. 30. A cell phone, accidentally left next to a computer terminal in a public library, was stolen.

MAPLE AVE. E., 800 block, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 4 to 9:30 a.m. Sept. 5. Food, a DVD player and CDs were stolen from a swimming pool snack bar, entered by breaking a gate latch.

MAPLE AVE. W., 100 block, 11:55 a.m. Sept. 1. A woman attempted to have a forged prescription filled. A 50-year-old Oakton woman was charged with prescription fraud.

VANDALISM

HOLMES DR. NW, 400 block, 8 p.m. Aug. 29 to 5:30 a.m. Aug. 30. The contents of two vehicles were disturbed. Nothing was reported missing.

MAPLE AVE. W., 400 block, 11 p.m. Sept. 6 to 4 a.m. Sept. 7. Graffiti was spray-painted on the windows of a building.

SHERWOOD DR. NE, 300 block, 10 p.m. Sept. 4 to 7 a.m. Sept. 5. A mailbox at a residence was damaged.
