Wilde Lake at Howard,

7 p.m. tomorrow

Two of the county's most improved teams meet in a game that features three top running backs.

Wilde Lake is coming off a thrilling 24-21 victory over Long Reach in which running backs Jarad Flagg and Zach Brown combined for 197 yards on 32 carries against one of the county's top defenses. Howard features senior Jude Yearwood, who rushed for 90 yards on nine carries in a 48-20 loss at Glenelg. He recorded 183 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries in a season-opening win over Oakland Mills.

"I think this is a very important game because we need to come back from last week," Howard Coach David Glenn said. "But I think we can run against anybody, and that's why I think we're going to be in this game the whole time."

Howard, off to its best start in five years, is looking for its first victory over Wilde Lake since 1999 -- the last time it made the playoffs. Wilde Lake has gotten off to a great start despite graduating several key players from last year's team.

"After last year, we felt like we had something to prove," Flagg said. "To beat Long Reach was a big win for us and now we have to keep it going."
