Chamber Business Awards

The Prince George's Chamber of Commerce will hold its 2005 Excellence in Business Awards Brunch from 10 a.m. to noon next Thursday at Martin's Crosswinds, 7400 Greenway Center Dr., Greenbelt. Marketing Seminar

The Baltimore-Washington Chamber of Commerce will hold a seminar, "Internet Marketing: Search Engine Optimization" from 8:15 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at 312 Marshall Ave., Suite 104 in Laurel. The workshop will feature presentations on Web design, content addition, search engine visibility and how they relate to marketing. Admission is $20. Reservations are required. Vice Presidents Named

Henry Bash and Brad Spooner are the new vice presidents of retail operations for Safeway's Eastern Division. They fulfill a role previously held by Hank Cominiello, who is now president of the Eastern Division. Bash will oversee stores in the District, Virginia and the western portion of Maryland; Spooner will oversee stores in the eastern half of Maryland, including southern Maryland, and Delaware and Pennsylvania.

Prior to accepting his new position, Bash was the district manager in Safeway's Seattle division. Spooner worked at Winn-Dixie, where he oversaw daily operations of 950 stores.
