Fair Oaks District

INDECENT EXPOSURE

FAIR OAKS SHOPPING CENTER, 6 p.m. Sept. 20. A man in a store exposed himself to a 36-year-old woman and her two sons, ages 3 and 5. A witness reported the incident to a mall security officer, who called police. The mall officer stopped the man inside the mall, and the man ran when a second witness approached. A Fairfax County police officer and an off-duty Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority police officer chased the man to a parking area, where he was arrested. A 29-year-old Missouri man was charged with taking indecent liberties with a minor child and indecent exposure.

ASSAULTS

FAIRFAX COUNTY PARKWAY AND TUCKAWAY DRIVE, 8:10 a.m. Sept. 21. A man in a vehicle shouted racial slurs at a 30-year-old woman in another vehicle, then threw a plastic bottle at her vehicle. No injuries were reported, and the vehicle was not damaged.

ROBBERIES

OX HILL AND WEST OX ROADS, 5 a.m. Sept. 18. Three men entered a residence and demanded cash. A 22-year-old man was cut on the upper body with a knife. The men took a gold-colored 1996 Lexus ES300, cash and other property. The injured man was treated at the scene. Gunshots were then fired at the residence at 1 a.m. the next day. Bullet holes were found in the house and in several vehicles. No injuries were reported. The incidents were under investigation.

ASHLAND WOODS LANE, 9200 block, 1 a.m. Sept. 16. A man pushed a 50-year-old woman down and attempted to take her purse. The woman wouldn't give up the purse, and the man fled. The woman reportedly received minor injuries. A 43-year-old District man was charged with attempted robbery.

ABDUCTIONS

WADSWORTH CT., 4200 block, 10:15 a.m. Sept. 15. A 25-year-old leasing agent found a man in a bedroom of an apartment when she checked to ensure that the apartment was ready for new tenants. The man grabbed the woman's shirt and held her, then she broke free and ran. The man fled, and police found him a short time later. A 22-year-old Alexandria man was charged with abduction and unlawful entry. The woman reportedly received minor injuries.

ASSAULTS

CAROUSEL CT., 7900 block, 12:30 a.m. Sept. 18. A group of youths assaulted a 17-year-old boy with bats and chains during a party. The youths then fled in a vehicle. The boy was treated at a hospital.

JAGUAR TR., 7500 block, 10:45 a.m. Sept. 16. Two large groups of youths were separated when they were observed antagonizing each other in a parking lot of a high school after a football game. One male returned and punched a 17-year-old football player as he left the field. Police separated the two using pepper spray. An 18-year-old Annandale male was charged with assault.

ROBBERIES

NEVIUS STREET AND LEESBURG PIKE, midnight Sept. 22. A man demanded a purse from a 47-year-old woman, then showed a knife and repeated his demand. The woman ran and the man fled in another direction. A 22-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with attempted robbery and public drunkenness.

SEXUAL ASSAULTS

CITIDEL PLACE AND CARNEGIE DRIVE, 10:15 p.m. Sept. 21. A man grabbed a 22-year-old female pedestrian, dragged her into a wooded area behind an elementary school and sexually assaulted her. The man fled when a passerby surprised him. The victim was treated at a hospital.

ROBBERIES

GATE HOUSE PLAZA, 3000 block, 5:15 p.m. Sept. 15. A gunman demanded cash from a man in a vehicle, while a second man demanded cash from another passenger. One of the victims gave the robbers cash. The robbers fled in a vehicle.

LEE HWY., 8100 block, 3 p.m. Sept. 15. When an employee told a male juvenile to leave a liquor store because he was too young to purchase alcohol, the teenager grabbed a bottle of alcohol and attempted to leave. He assaulted the employee and struggled with him before leaving without the alcohol. The employee reportedly received minor injuries.

SAVANNAH ST., 7600 block, 12:05 a.m. Sept. 17. Three males accosted a 23-year-old man walking through an apartment complex. They punched and kicked him and took property, then fled on foot.

SHEFFIELD VILLAGE LANE, 7:55 a.m. Sept. 17. A man bumped a 50-year-old woman walking her dog on a path behind townhouses and continued without speaking. The woman saw the man again in a recreation area, and as he walked toward her, he grabbed her by the arm and exposed himself. The victim broke free and ran away.

ASSAULTS

BUCKMAN RD., 3500 block, 2 a.m. Sept. 16. Two men wearing masks, one with a handgun, entered an apartment building. The gun was fired once. No injuries were reported.

ROBBERIES

COLONY CT., 4500 block, 9 p.m. Sept. 21. Two men, one with a gun, pulled a 23-year-old man into a stairwell and demanded cash. The victim had no cash, and the gunman punched him several times in the upper body. The men then fled in a car.

NORTH KINGS HWY., 5800 block, 1 a.m. Sept. 16. Two females, one with a knife, struggled with a 24-year-old woman outside a Metro station. They punched the woman and took property, then fled on foot. The victim fell unconscious and woke a few minutes later and called police. She was treated at the scene.

RICHMOND HWY., 6100 block, 1 a.m. Sept. 21. A man demanded cash from a 43-year-old man in a community laundry room of a hotel. The man then cut the victim, took cash and fled on foot.

RICHMOND HWY., 6200 block, 11 p.m. Sept. 19. A man implied he had a gun and robbed two clerks at a pizza business of cash.

RICHMOND HWY., 8100 block, 1:50 a.m. Sept. 21. Two men, one with a handgun, robbed a clerk at a service station of cash, then fled.

BACKLICK RD., 5100 block, 8:30 p.m. July 5. A 23-year-old woman alleged that a chiropractor touched her inappropriately in his office in July. A 35-year-old Lorton man was arrested and charged with sexual battery.

EDINBURGH DR., 8000 block, 7 p.m. Sept. 17. A man struck a 17-year-old male in the upper body and knocked him down. Two other males approached. The victim was robbed of cash. He was treated at a hospital.

ROBBERIES

WEYBURN AND MEDFORD DRIVES, 6 a.m. Sept. 18. Two men demanded cash from a cabdriver who had driven them from Annapolis to Annandale. They took cash and a cell phone. The driver was struck on the back of the head with a handgun, then shoved from the moving car. The men tried to flee in the vehicle, but it crashed into a parked vehicle. The robbers ran away. The victim reportedly received minor injuries.

ASSAULTS

FAIRFAX BLVD., 10500 block, 7:38 p.m. Sept. 19. During a traffic altercation, a female got out of a car, approached the female driver of another vehicle and slapped her face. The assailant then fled in her car.

FAIRFAX BOULEVARD AND EATON PLACE, 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18. A male driving a vehicle followed a woman driving another vehicle after she beeped her horn at him at a traffic light. When she stopped at another light, the man got out and hit a passenger side window of her vehicle. He spit at her when she asked what he wanted. She told him she was calling police, and he fled in his car.

MAIN ST., 10000 block, 9:30 a.m. Sept. 14. A man punched a man in the face as he sat in his vehicle at a convenience store. When a customer ran out to help the man, the assailant ran to another car and started its engine. The owner of that vehicle pulled the man from the car, and the assailant struck him several times in the neck, chest and stomach. Police arrived as the assailant was running away. A 50-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with assault and attempted grand larceny of a vehicle. The man, who kicked a police officer's leg during the arrest, was also charged with assaulting a police officer.

BEVAN DR., 3700 block, 12:30 to 2:50 p.m. Sept. 13. A CD player was stolen from a locker at a middle school. The owner of the player found a student with it the next day, and that student and another student reportedly admitted taking it. Both were suspended, and the CD player was returned.

BEVAN DR., 3700 block, 7:50 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 15. A wallet was stolen from a purse in a classroom of a middle school.

FAIRFAX BLVD., 9800 block, 2:25 a.m. Sept. 18. A man in a vehicle who was stopped for a traffic violation was found with a stolen wallet in his pocket. The wallet, credit cards and identification had been reported stolen in November, 2004. A 31-year-old Alexandria man was charged with possession of stolen property, providing false information to police and public drunkenness.

FAIRFAX BLVD., 11200 block, 7:37 p.m. Sept. 19. Several bottles of vanilla extract were stolen from a grocery store.

ADDISON RD., 4100 block, Sept. 17 to Sept. 18. A vehicle in the driveway of a residence was scratched.

FAIRFAX BLVD., 9400 block, Sept. 17 to Sept. 18. Graffiti was written on the back door of a business with a marker.

FAIRFAX BLVD., 9700 block, Sept. 12 to Sept. 13. Graffiti was spray-painted on a wall of a motel.

MOSBY WOODS DR., 10100 block, Sept. 17 to Sept. 18. A vehicle in front of a residence was scratched.

ASSAULTS

BROAD ST. W., 1000 block, 12:30 p.m. Sept. 15. A 35-year-old Maryland woman, a 52-year-old District woman and two juvenile females were charged with felony assault of a police officer and felony hit and run. The police officer and the victim of the hit and run reportedly received minor injuries.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

FAIRFAX ST. E., 200 block, 8:47 p.m. Sept. 17. Twelve pieces of handmade sterling silver jewelry were stolen from a residence.

ROOSEVELT BLVD., 400 block, 2:28 a.m. Sept. 16. Spare tires were removed from three pickup trucks at an auto dealership. The tires were recovered at the property.

ROOSEVELT BLVD., 500 block, 8 a.m. Aug. 30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 19. Unauthorized purchases were made with a stolen American Express card.

SHERROW AVE., 400 block, 5:26 a.m. Sept. 18. An unsuccessful attempt was made to steal a figurine from a residence.

VIRGINIA AVE. S., 400 block, 6 p.m. Sept. 15 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 17. A gas powered lawn trimmer was stolen from a tool shed in the back yard of a residence.

PARK ST. SE, 1000 block, 10 to 10:10 p.m. Sept. 14. An iPod, a calculator, a tote bag and other items were stolen from a car parked at an elementary school. The vehicle was entered by breaking a window.
