Asteros Filmworks' "The Golden Tiki of Djbuti Buti" is included in a compilation DVD, "Funny Shorts Made Fast," which will be shown in a Hurricane Katrina benefit screening at 7:30 p.m. today at Landmark Theaters E Street Cinema, 11th and E streets in Washington D.C.

Asteros is an Annapolis production company. Its film "The Golden Tiki of Djbuti Buti" was part of the Baltimore 48 Hour Film Project, which challenges teams to write, shoot and edit a film in 48 hours. The film was shot in downtown Annapolis and Baltimore. It won the audience award along with awards for best ensemble cast, best special effects and best costumes.

The DVD also will be shown today in 12 other cities: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Minnesota, New York, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and St. Louis.

The Salvation Army is collecting names of local residents interested in volunteering for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Volunteers will be contacted as needed and sent to Jackson, Miss., for food preparation and kitchen training before being deployed in the affected states. The Salvation Army is also accepting cash donations and diapers, baby wipes, baby bottles, large trash bags, pencils and paper, batteries, flashlights, toiletries, plastic ware, paper towels and hand sanitizers. American Red Cross of Central Maryland is organizing one-day training sessions to prepare volunteers for three-week periods of disaster relief in the affected Gulf states.
