Man Sought in Robbery
Loudoun County sheriff's investigators are searching for a suspect in the armed robbery Friday morning of a 24-hour gas station near Lovettsville.
A man whose face was concealed with a black cloth walked into West End Motors on Berlin Turnpike about 3:45 a.m. He pulled out a weapon and demanded money, according to sheriff's spokesman Kraig Troxell. The man then jumped over the counter to remove the cash drawer from the register and fled.
The man was described as about six feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a long-sleeved, cream-colored shirt and jeans.
Anyone with information about the man's identity is asked to contact investigator H. Craig at 703-777-0475 or Loudoun Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919.
Meeting on Flood Study
Residents of Broad Run Farms are encouraged to attend a public meeting tonight about a recently conducted study of the area's flood risk.
The Army Corps of Engineers looked at issues of emergency access for the Broad Run area, which is served only by low-lying Youngs Cliff Road, a route subject to periodic flooding from the Potomac River that could isolate about 60 homes from emergency services. The meeting is at 7 p.m. at Eastern Loudoun Regional Library, 21030 Whitfield Pl., Sterling. The study is available at the library's reference desk and at www.loudoun.gov/genserv/stormwater.
