OLNEY-LAYTONSVILLE RD., 6800 block, 2:25 a.m. Oct. 2. A man demanded money at knifepoint from a clerk in a convenience store. The clerk handed over cash, and the robber fled.

SEXUAL ASSAULTS

CENTERWAY PARK AREA, 8:31 p.m. Oct. 4. A man approached a woman, 34, and asked if she wanted sex. When the she said no, he forced her to the ground and attempted to remove her clothing. She broke free and ran to a nearby pedestrian. The assailant fled and was seen getting into a white SUV with Maryland registration being driven by a man.

ASSAULTS

PRAIRIE ROSE COURT AREA, 8 a.m. Oct. 1. A man, 26, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault in connection with a domestic incident that occurred at the above location.

VINEYARD HAVEN CT., 1 to 100 block, noon Sept. 23. A Germantown woman, 18, was assaulted, possibly by an acquaintance. An investigation was continuing.

ROBBERIES

AMITY CIR., 8200 block, 11:19 p.m. Sept. 25. A man struck a Gaithersburg woman, 32, from behind, took her purse and fled. The woman reportedly refused treatment for injuries.

BROOKRIDGE CT., 9800 block, 8:30 p.m. Oct. 4. A Gaithersburg man, 23, was arrested and charged with attempted robbery and second-degree assault in connection with an incident that occurred at the above location.

CLOPPER RD., 900 block, 4 p.m. Oct. 4. A man grabbed the shirt of a Gaithersburg boy, 13, threatened him and demanded property. The assailant grabbed a hand-held video game from the boy and fled with it.

DIAMOND AVENUE E. AND SUMMIT AVENUE N., 5:30 p.m. Oct. 3. A man accosted a Gaithersburg man, 18, walking along the MARC train tracks, struck him in the forehead, forcing him down. He then took his cash and fled.

COTTONWOOD TERR., 17900 block, 4:53 p.m. Sept. 30. Two girls, one from Silver Spring and one from Germantown, were arrested and charged with fourth-degree burglary, theft under $500, and conspiracy in connection with an incident that occurred at the above location.

SEXUAL ASSAULTS

SILVER SPRING AREA, 7:45 to 8:15 p.m. Sept. 29. A woman, 20, reported she was raped in her residence by an acquaintance. An investigation was continuing.

ROBBERIES

CASTLE BLVD., 13900 block, 11:31 p.m. Oct. 3. A man knocked on the door of a residence and demanded money at gunpoint from a resident, 20, who opened the door. The resident shut the door and locked it. He saw the gunman on his balcony and watched as he pointed the gun toward his roommates, a 20-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, as they walked toward the building. The gunman jumped off the balcony without firing and fled.

ELTON RD., 1700 block, noon Sept. 23. A man in a bank presented a teller with a note announcing a robbery. The teller handed over cash, and the man left the bank and fled in a newer model, light-blue, four-door Nissan.

GATESHEAD MANOR WAY AND PARKFORD MANOR TERRACE, 11:15 p.m. Oct. 3. Five men accosted a Silver Spring man, 49, who was then forced to the ground, kicked and robbed of his wallet. The robbers fled.

LANIER DR., 8800 block, 11:28 p.m. Sept. 25. Three men, one armed with a long pole, demanded wallets from two pedestrians, a Beltsville man, 28, and a Silver Spring man, 34. The pedestrians fled. The robbers caught up to the Beltsville man, forced him to the ground and took his wallet. The robbers fled. The assaulted man was treated at a local hospital for injuries.

PINEY BRANCH RD., 9200 block, 1:04 p.m. Sept. 24. Two men accosted a Silver Spring man, 28, and a struggle ensued. The two men fled on foot. The Silver Spring man was not injured.

WOODSIDE PARKWAY AND ALTON ROAD, 8:30 p.m. Oct. 3. Two men demanded cash at gunpoint from a Silver Spring pedestrian, 50. He complied and the robbers fled.

ASSAULTS

CENTRAL AVE., 7200 block, 9 a.m. Oct. 13. A Hyattsville man was served a warrant charging him with first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, a malicious destruction of property, telephone misuse and stalking in connection with incidents that occurred beginning in 2004 and continuing through Aug. 22, 2005 at the above location.

MAPLE AVE., 7600 block, 9:50 p.m. Oct. 12. A boy was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree assault, trespassing and resisting arrest.

ROBBERIES

NEW HAMPSHIRE AVE., 6300 block, 9 p.m. Oct. 8. Three men accosted a male employee working outside a store and demanded his keys and other property. One of the men was armed with an unidentified object. The employee refuse and the men fled in a older model Jeep Cherokee, possibly green, with D.C. tags.

NEW HAMPSHIRE AVE., 7600 block, 12:30 p.m. Oct. 11. A man in a bank handed a note to a female teller demanding cash and threatening the teller. He did not reveal a weapon. The teller hit her alarm button and walked away from her window without handing over cash. The man fled on foot.

GARLAND AVE., 7700 block, 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 6. Property was stolen from a residence entered through an open window.

UNIVERSITY BLVD., 1100 block, 3:40 p.m. Oct. 12. A man was arrested and charged with two counts of fourth-degree burglary and theft in connection with an incident that occurred at the above location.
