Heritage 49, Broad Run 13

Quarterback Bryan Brosnan completed 9 of 17 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns to lead Heritage to a 49-13 victory over Broad Run in a AA Dulles District game Friday in Leesburg.

Pride wide receiver Chris Smith caught two touchdowns, including the game's opening score on a 54-yard reception in the first quarter. Broad Run (0-7, 0-2 in district) cut the margin to 7-6 when running back Thayer Nelson broke loose for a 94-yard touchdown. Nelson finished with a game-high 192 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries.

But the Pride (4-2, 1-1) took the lead for good later in the first quarter when Brosnan completed a 23-yard touchdown throw to wide receiver Quinn Tibbs. Heritage increased its lead to 21-6 in the second quarter after running back Matt Lucas scored on an 80-yard run. Lucas finished with 179 yards on 22 carries.

After Tibbs caught a 28-yard touchdown pass from Brosnan later in the second quarter, Heritage defensive back Sean McCoy intercepted a pass and returned it 38 yards for a touchdown to give Heritage a 35-7 lead. Wide receiver Dale Taylor's 25-yard reception for a touchdown made it 42-7 at the half.
