Suspect Sought Montgomery County police are looking for a man who assaulted a female lifeguard with a stun gun at a Bethesda hotel and then masturbated in front of an 11-year-old girl and her 21-year-old sister at a nearby bookstore this month.

Police said they linked the Oct. 16 crimes after finding that a computer-generated composite of the man who assaulted the 21-year-old lifeguard resembled the man who exposed himself at the bookstore, where a security camera recorded his image.

The first crime took place at the Marriott Suites Hotel on Democracy Boulevard shortly before 4 p.m. Police said the man approached the lifeguard from behind, pressed the device against her lower back and shocked her at least five times. The attack left welts on her back, but she was not seriously injured.

The second incident occurred about 6:30 p.m. at the Borders bookstore at White Flint Mall. One of the sisters screamed when she saw the man masturbating. The man zipped his olive green cargo shorts and ran out.

Police said the man is white, in his mid- to late thirties, about 6 feet and 180 pounds, with a thin build, big ears, short brown hair and a trimmed dark beard. He has a forearm tattoo that might be of a Chinese character. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 301-657-0112.
