What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

"Without a doubt, the most urgent issue facing the Garrisonville District is transportation congestion and safety. Traffic on 610 gets worse with each passing day, and the improvements scheduled to start next year are already woefully inadequate and shortsighted. Stafford has long ignored this issue and blamed the deplorable condition on the state. It is time we take responsibility for these conditions in our county. We must do a better job of planning and identifying new revenue sources, and bring together all the talent Stafford has to offer to get on top of this issue."

Why should voters elect you?

"I will bring 30 years of proven leadership, experience working on a large federal budget and strategic planning to bear on Stafford's complex problems."

Elected offices/civic activities: Member, Stafford County Board of Supervisors, 2001-05; member, Sierra Club; member, St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church; member, Chesapeake Bay Foundation; member and past adjutant, American Legion Post 290.

What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

"The most urgent issue is the impact of rapid growth and sprawl on Stafford and our neighborhoods. I am working to acquire additional legislative tools to better manage growth. I work with available tools to make development pay for itself and to build a realistic comprehensive plan for the county. I will ensure that necessary infrastructure is built and our quality services are improved. I will continue to improve our transportation options, quality schools, efficient fire and rescue services, and build youth recreational fields and facilities, while bringing in commercial growth to widen the tax base and keep taxes low."

Why should voters elect you?

"I have proven to be an innovative thinker and strong leader who collaborates with other members of the board to fashion workable and effective solutions."
