What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

"Stafford County is one of the fastest-growing counties in the nation. Now, more than ever, we need to ensure that not only are our children getting the best possible education, but we are providing this education in a fiscally responsible manner. A child's education is only as good as the teacher in front of the class. Therefore, our teachers must be provided competitive salaries and the best possible teaching tools. We need creative and conservative ideas. We need a responsive representative who listens to all taxpayers. We need to work together to ensure the best education for our children."

Why should voters elect you?

"As your representative, I bring my background as a financial accountant, veteran teacher and current business leader to work for you and your family."

Residence: Hampton Oaks.

Education: MA, Latin American studies, Georgetown University; BA, psychology and criminal justice, Ohio State University.

Occupation: Senior analyst, Department of Defense.

Elected offices/civic activities: Member, Stafford County School Board, 1998-present; chairman, Virginia School Boards Association, Northeastern Region; member, Stafford County Parks and Recreation Commission; former president, Hampton Oaks Elementary PTO; former president, Courts at Stafford homeowners association.

What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

"The most urgent issue facing Stafford County schools is the hiring and retention of great teachers. We need to raise our employees' salaries to be competitive with the counties around us. Stafford County should receive the same supplement that Northern Virginia counties receive. I will continue to push for this additional state money, and I will continue to support competitive salaries for our professional educators. Stafford County has one of the most efficient school systems in the commonwealth. I will work to continue improving our efficiency so that we can support our most valuable resource -- great teachers."

Why should voters elect you?

"I am concerned, involved, qualified and experienced. As School Board chairman, I have a proven ability to lead an efficient and successful school system."
