Red Cross Call Center Needs Volunteers

The Southern Maryland Chapter of the American Red Cross is seeking volunteers to staff the new call center it has established at its La Plata office.

The call center will handle overflow calls rerouted from the Red Cross national headquarters, which has been overwhelmed by the high volume of calls in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

The La Plata center will operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Shifts are flexible; training will be provided.

Anyone interested should call Becky Bowie, volunteer coordinator at the Red Cross office in La Plata, 301-757-3996.
