Long Reach looks to win at least a share of its first county title and earn a spot in the 3A East Region tournament with a victory over Mount Hebron, which hopes to be a spoiler.

Mount Hebron, eliminated from postseason contention, played hard in a 22-7 loss to River Hill last week. The team lost, 22-19, to Long Reach last season.

"Our goal is to go out and beat Long Reach because none of our seniors have beaten Long Reach before," Mount Hebron Coach Larry Luthe said. "We have pride, and we're not going to quit."

The game will feature two of the county's top running backs. Mount Hebron senior Chris Eccleston has rushed for 1,166 yards and 20 touchdowns on 139 carries, and Long Reach senior Josh Brown has amassed 909 yards and nine touchdowns on 118 carries.

"We know we have to stop Eccleston because he ran all over us last year," said Long Reach senior linebacker Brian Taylor, referring to Eccleston's 184 combined rushing and receiving yards last year. "I'll give him all the credit in the world: He's the real deal."
