MARYLAND 4A SOUTH REGION
Who's in: Douglass, C.H. Flowers, Eleanor Roosevelt.
Who's in with a win: Bowie.
Who needs help: Suitland.
The skinny: Douglass has already clinched the top seed. Flowers and Roosevelt play Saturday, with the winner earning the second seed. Bowie can earn a playoff spot by beating Suitland on Saturday. But if Suitland wins, the Rams could get in ahead of the Bulldogs, depending on the outcome of other games, particularly Largo-Parkdale and Oxon Hill-High Point.
MARYLAND 3A SOUTH REGION
Who's in: Gwynn Park, Westlake, Friendly, Lackey.
The skinny: Last weekend's results went a long way toward shaping the region. Because Westlake lost to Patuxent, Gwynn Park is assured of the top seed. Westlake and Friendly are likely to meet in the first round, but if either loses, Lackey could move up from the fourth seed. Lackey earned its playoff berth by beating Northern.
MARYLAND 2A SOUTH REGION
Who's in: No one yet.
Who's in with a win: McDonough, Potomac, Atholton.
Who needs help: Glenelg, Patuxent, Reservoir.
The skinny: One of the most jumbled regions in the state. Defending state champion Potomac likely needs to beat Forestville to qualify for the playoffs. Glenelg plays a nine-game schedule and is idle next week, but the Gladiators likely will make the playoffs no matter what. Former DuVal coach Joe Lewis, now at Reservoir, will need to win and get help to make it.
