Janice Lathrop of Edgewater is the new reference librarian at Anne Arundel Community College. She worked previously at Johns Hopkins University. She holds a BA in anthropology from Georgia State University and a master's in library science from Simmons College.
Brandy Whitlock of Pasadena is the college's new instruction librarian. Most recently Whitlock worked as the business manager and reference librarian at Woodbridge Library in Connecticut. She received a BS in accounting from Virginia Tech and a master's in library and information science from the University of Alabama. She also holds an MA in English from Miami University in Ohio and an MFA in creative writing from the University of Alabama.
J. Robert Bradshaw of Davidsonville, a retired businessman, was appointed to the Housing Commission of Anne Arundel County. He will serve a five-year term expiring on Oct. 31, 2010. The commission is charged with providing safe and sanitary dwelling accommodations for low-income residents.
Lisa Hillman of Annapolis, senior vice president and chief development officer for Anne Arundel Medical Center, was recognized by the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy for individual professional distinction. Hillman manages the medical center's fundraising, public affairs, marketing, communications, volunteer and legislative and governmental activities.
Tom and Peggy Baldwin of Severna Park are to receive the Anne Arundel County Outstanding Philanthropist Award today at the fifth annual philanthropy luncheon at the Sheraton Annapolis Hotel. The Baldwins were nominated by the Providence Center with support from St. Mary's Parish, Anne Arundel Medical Center and Hospice of the Chesapeake. The couple began supporting the Providence Center in 1961, when they donated a home on Spa Road in Annapolis for use by developmentally disabled children.
