The Nanjemoy Community Center and the Charles County Department of Community Services are co-sponsoring a free Santa's Hotline for children ages 1 to 10 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 14.

In an announcement last week, department officials said: "Through the power of technology, we've set up a hotline that will be transferring Santa's calls through special operators in the North Pole. Because Santa is so busy, calls will be limited to the first 150 completed registration forms handed in."

For information about registering to receive a call from Santa on Dec. 14, visit the department's Web site, www.charlescounty.org/cs, or call 301-934-9305 or 301-870-3388, Ext. 5152. Callers with special needs can contact the Maryland Relay Service at 711 or Relay Service TDD at 800-735-2258.

The department is also seeking volunteers to assist with the hotline event. Volunteers are needed from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 14. Dinner for all volunteers will be provided.

Anyone interested in volunteering should call the Nanjemoy Community Center at 301-246-9612 or the Department of Community Services at 301-934-9305 or 301-870-3388.
