Fairfax City Students Join
Forces in 'Wizard of Oz'
Students from Fairfax City's four schools will come together to perform "The Wizard of Oz" on Dec. 1-3 at Fairfax High School.
Cast members include students from the high school's fine arts department. Lanier Middle School students will portray the witch's guards. Students from Providence and Daniels Run elementary schools will play Munchkins.
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1 and 2 and 11 a.m. Dec. 3.
Fairfax High School is at 3500 Old Lee Hwy. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door and free for children 7 and younger. For more information, call 703-219-2351.
Includes a Premiere
The Reston Chorale will open its 38th concert season with two performances of seasonal music Dec. 3 at the Reston Community Center at Hunters Woods.
Performances will include two original works composed specifically for the chorale through a commission from John and Susan Adney. The Chorale also will debut "Peace of Heaven," written by American composer Daniel E. Gawthrop.
The concert also features the work of composer David Ott with an encore performance of " 'Twas the Night Before Christmas."
The concerts are at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are $20; $15 for seniors and youth. The community center is at 2310 Colts Neck Rd., Reston.

Voce Chamber Singers
Set Seasonal Concerts
The Voce Chamber Singers will perform a program of seasonal music for choir, organ, percussion and brass with members of the U.S. Army Band on Dec. 2 and 3 in Herndon and Great Falls, respectively.
The Herndon concert is at 8 p.m. Dec. 2 at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 432 Van Buren St. At 8 p.m. the next day, the singers will perform at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 9220 Georgetown Pike (Route 193), Great Falls.
Featured will be Daniel Pinkham's "Christmas Contata" and Randol Alan Bass's "Gloria." The group will also sing international carols and lead some singalongs.
Voce's 20 singers are volunteers from throughout Northern Virginia, including from Ashburn, Centreville, Clifton, Falls Church, Herndon, Leesburg, Oak Hill, Purcellville, Reston, Sterling and Vienna.
Advance tickets are $18 for adults, $13 for seniors and $5 for students. Tickets will be $2 more at the door.

Works by Regional Artists
At Reston Arts Center
The Greater Reston Arts Center will celebrate the holiday season with the annual "Art for Giving" exhibition next Thursday through Dec. 23.
According to a news release, the exhibition will feature fine art and crafts by regional artists. An opening reception is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. next Thursday.
The center is on the corner of Market and Saint Francis streets in Reston Town Center.
Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
