George Winston at Piano

Pianist George Winston combines rhythm and blues with rock standards to create melodic songs influenced by R&B, blues, jazz and rock. An acoustic pianist for more than 30 years, Winston is drawn to the music of the '70s rock band the Doors. He borrows from his early childhood in eastern Montana for his most recent album, "Montana: A Love Story." Winston is studying the music of New Orleans pianists such as Henry Butler, Dr. John and the late Professor Longhair. 8 p.m. next Thursday. Outdoor Ice Skating

Cold weather has arrived, and so has ice skating at the Glen Burnie Town Center. Each winter the center opens its outdoor ice rink for public skating and private party rental. The rink offers season passes at discounted rates as well as private and group lessons.
