The following were among animal cases handled recently by the Howard County Division of Animal Control. The Howard County Animal Control facility is closed for renovations through Sunday. Usually, the Howard County Animal Shelter is open for pet adoptions from 1:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. other weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, except holidays. Injured Cow Turns Up in Yard
CLARKSVILLE, Meadow Wood Way, 7200 block, 11:30 a.m. Nov. 15. An animal control officer responded to a report of a cow with an injured leg in the back yard of a residence. Upon arrival, the officer found the injured cow in a halter. The cow was tranquilized and impounded. Days End Horse Farm Rescue assisted in locating a temporary home for the animal. Anyone with information about the cow is asked to call animal control. The case was continuing.
Call About Kittens Investigated
LAUREL, routes 1 and 32, 4:10 p.m. Nov. 15. A caller reported that a box of kittens had been abandoned at an intersection and that one of the kittens had been hit by a car and was injured. Animal control went to the area and could not locate any kittens or a box.
Animal Control Facility Closed
Because of construction and renovation, the Howard County Animal Control facility closed Nov. 21 and is scheduled to reopen Monday. The facility will be closed for adoptions and routine public calls. Field services and the receiving of stray animals will be available during the closing. Information on adoptable pets can be found at www.hcpd.org.
