Driving Hot Spots

Here is a selection of road advisories. Weather and equipment availability can affect timing.

1. Darnestown Road

Alternating pattern with flagging operation 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays between Whites Ferry Road and the Montgomery-Frederick county line.

2. Laurel Fort Meade Road

Right northbound lane closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays between Baltimore Avenue and Eighth Street.

3. Laurel Bowie Road

Right southbound lane closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays between Laurel Fort Meade and Muirkirk roads.

4. Capital Beltway (inner loop)

Left lane closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays between Branch Avenue and St. Barnabas Road.

5. Capital Beltway (both loops)

Lane closures 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and nighttime hours Monday and Tuesday near Interstate 295 and Route 210.

6. Route 1

Alternating lane closures in both directions noon to 3:30 p.m. Monday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to noon Friday between Huntington Avenue and the Capital Beltway.

7. Telegraph Road

Alternating lane closures in both directions noon to 3:30 p.m. Monday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to noon Friday between North Kings Highway and Lenore Lane.

8. Lenore Lane

Road closed in both directions between Telegraph Road and Timothy Place. A detour will be in place.

9. Springfield interchange

Possible lane closures 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday.

10. Chesapeake Bay Bridge

Lane closures Monday through Saturday on both spans. Updates available at www.mdtransportationauthority.com.

11. Independence Avenue SW

Non-rush-hour lane closures in both directions between 14th and 17th streets SW through fall 2006.

Transit Update

Metrorail:

The parking garage/street elevator and the platform elevator at the Huntington Metrorail station will undergo modernization beginning Monday and will be out of service for 10 weeks. Shuttle bus service is available by calling 202-962-185 in advance.
