Dog Hinders Rescue
BUCHANAN ST. N., 1600 block, Nov. 17. Arlington County police called animal control for help in the case of a motorist who had gone into diabetic shock and stopped his car. Police and emergency medical technicians were unable to reach the driver because a large dog was in the back seat, growling and lunging at the windows. An animal control officer slipped a pole with a loop through a slightly opened passenger door and put the loop around the dog's neck. The animal was subdued, and the medical technicians treated the driver, who was then taken home by relatives. The animal control officer drove the dog to its owner's home in another vehicle.
