The Jewish Social Service Agency needs volunteers for its hospice program, which provides support for terminally ill people and their families, and its transitions program, which provides similar services to patients with life-limiting illnesses. AARP Tax-Aide, a tax counseling and preparation service, needs volunteers to help complete 2005 federal and state income tax forms for electronic filing. Counselors receive free training and become IRS-certified by passing the agency's examination. Call Patty Callahan at 703-207-0056 or visit

Kidsave International will hold an orientation session for prospective volunteers and host families for its 2006 Summer Miracles program at 6 p.m. next Thursday at Dolley Madison Library, 1244 Oak Ridge Ave., McLean.
