Pit Bulls Attack Chow MixFRANCONIA AREA,Brookview Drive and Foldi Street, 11 a.m. Feb. 11. A pit bull ran out of a house and attacked a 13-year-old chow mix being walked by a woman. Two other pit bulls came outside and joined the attack. A 60-year-old woman who lives with the pit bulls was bitten on the hand when she attempted to stop the fight. The chow mix eventually escaped and ran to its home. It was treated for injuries at a veterinary clinic. The owner of the pit bulls, a 21-year-old male resident of the house from which the pit bulls had emerged, was charged with two counts of failure to possess proof of rabies vaccination and two counts of failure to possess a dog license.

Owner Pays to Claim PetPLANTATION PARKWAY AND RANGER ROAD,Feb. 12. An animal control officer picked up a stray beagle. After checking the dog's ID tags, the officer took the dog to its home, but the owner wasn't there. The owner claimed the dog a few hours later at the city shelter after paying $25 in boarding and pickup fees.
