Sports Hall of FameNomination forms are now available for Howard County's 2007 Community Sports Hall of Fame, sponsored by the county's Department of Recreation and Parks. The Hall of Fame honors outstanding individuals who have gained prominence or made substantial contributions in community recreational sports. The deadline for nominations is March 15. Jazz in the StacksThe Howard County Library will have its 10th annual Evening in the Stacks fundraiser from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the East Columbia Branch Library, 6600 Cradlerock Way, Columbia. CA Staff to Be RecognizedThe service and accomplishments of the Columbia Association and its senior staff and team members, including President Maggie Brown, will be celebrated at a community open house from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Loft of the Other Barn, Oakland Mills Village Center, Columbia. Youth Safe Driving Contest Young drivers in Howard will be rewarded for safe driving through a partnership between Howard public schools and the Courtesy on the Road program. A winning "safe driver" will be chosen each week from among students registered in the program who follow speed limits, use turn signals and demonstrate other safe, courteous driving habits. Winners will receive a variety of prizes donated by businesses.
