Cynthia L. Dawson Assistant ManagerCynthia L. Dawson, 28, assistant manager at a Manassas restaurant, died after a heart attack Feb. 24 at Prince William Hospital. She lived in Manassas.
Ms. Dawson was born in Warrenton and at the age of 10 received a heart transplant. She graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School and attended George Mason University. She worked for the Clubhouse restaurant for the past six years.
Survivors include her companion, Jason Waters of Manassas; her mother and stepfather, Debbie and Jim Harvey of Manassas; her maternal grandmother, Ellen Breeden of Warrenton; two stepbrothers, James Harvey of Columbia and Christopher Harvey of Ashburn; and two stepsisters, Tamara Leary of Pasadena and Dana Marsh of Point of Rocks.
Pearl Ione Shattuck Fairfax County ResidentPearl Ione Shattuck, 94, who participated in activities in her Fairfax County retirement community, died Feb. 12 of a heart attack at the Little River Glen senior center.
She was born in Aromas, Calif., and graduated from San Jose State University in 1934.
She worked briefly as a teacher before marrying in 1935. Because of a school system rule at that time barring married teachers, she left teaching.
Mrs. Shattuck lived in many different cities in California because of her husband's work, and when he retired, they moved to Phoenix, Ore. Her husband, Charles A. Shattuck, died in 1983.
In 1986, Mrs. Shattuck moved to Fairfax County to be near her daughter and her family.
Survivors include three children, Charlene Cossairt of Fairfax City, William Shattuck of Madison, Wis., and Daniel Shattuck of Eufaula, Ala.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
