The Supreme Court meets today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the following cases listed for oral argument.

Case No. 76-1200 - Crist vs. Cline. Double jeopardy. Does the Constitution mandate that in a jury trial, jeopardy attaches when the jury is sworn? Does it prevent jeopardy from attaching in any trial - state or federal - until the first witness is sworn? Reargument. (1 hr. and 15 minutes).

Case Nos 76-1836, 1837 - Coopers & Lybrand and Punta Gorda Isles Inc., each vs. Livesay. Class actions. When a court of appeals concludes it would be economically unfeasible for members of a plaintiff class to proceed on their individual claims, and when an immediate appeal is the only way to project class members against irreparable loss of their rights, can there be an immediate appeal of a trial judge's order decertifying the class for purported failure to prosecute its claims? (1 hr.)

Case No. 77-560 - Gardner vs. Westinghouse. Civil Rights Act of 1964. Class actions. When the primary relief sought for alleged employment discrimination is a class-wide permanent injunction, can there be an immediate appeal of lower court's denial of a motion for system-wide class certification? (1 hr.)
