Today's schedule of events for Pope John Paul II's visit to the United States is as follows:
9:15 a.m. - Pope arrives in New York at LaGuardia Marine Air Terminal. He will be met by United Nations Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim, Cardinal Terence Cooke and others.
10 a.m. - Pope holds a privatte meeting with Waldheim at the United Nations.
Noon - Pope addresses the General Assembly on human rights, peace and justice.
1:15 p.m. - Pope attends a luncheon at the residence of the Vatiican's representative to the United Nations, Msgr. Giovanni Cheli.
2:45 p.m. - Pope returns to the United Nations to address the U.N. staff on the General Assembly Hall.
3 p.m. - Pope attends a reception given by Waldheim in the North Lounge.
4:30 p.m. - Pope leaves the United Nations for St. Patrick's Cathedral.
4:45 p.m. - Pope arrives at St. Patrick's Cathedral , acknowledges the crowd, says a prayer inside and meets with Cooke in his residence behind the cathedral.
5:30 p.m. - Pope leaves St. Patrick's for a short visit to St. Charles Barromeo Church in Harlem.
6:20 p.m. - Pope stops at the site of Christopher Court, a moderate-income, church housing development in South Bronx.
7 p.m. - Pope attends dinner at Cardinal Hayes High School.
8 p.m. - Pope celebrates mass at Yankee Stadium.
10:15 p.m. - Pope returns to Cooke's residencee at St. Patrick's Cathedral to spend the night.
The three major television networks will cover the pope's visit to New York with special reports and updates during regular news programs. National Public Radio - FM-91 will provide live coverage and nightly news reports on the pope's visit.
