A man and a woman were shot and wounded yesterday as they sat in a car in the parking lot of a Fairfax County town house development, county police reported. Another man, who turned himself in to police minutes later, was charged in the shootings.
Police spokesman Philip A. Lively said the shooting occurred about 11 a.m. in the parking lot of the Berkshire East town house development near the Huntington Metro station and stemmed from a domestic quarrel.
Cyndi Brown, 21, of 5219 Berkshire Ct. was shot once in her lower right leg and Kenneth R. Godfrey, 21, of Hyattsville was wounded twice in the upper left thigh, Lively said. They then drove away and stopped about two miles away at a service station at 6241 Richmond Hwy., Lively said.
There, police said witnesses told them, Godfrey emerged from the car screaming and dripping blood and station manager Keith Flanders called police.
Brown and Godfrey were admitted to Mount Vernon Hospital, where Godfrey was listed in good and Brown in fair condition.
Another resident of the house where Brown lives, John Slade, 33, also drove away from the scene after the shooting, but minutes later called his home, where a police officer answered and persuaded him to return, Lively said.
Slade was charged with two counts of malicious wounding and two of a firearms violation, police said.
