Spec. Thomas H. Byrd, 21, of Cochise, Ariz.

Spec. Jeffrey W. Corban, 30, of Elkhart, Ind.

Spec. Richard A. Hardy, 24, of Newcomerstown, Ohio.

Staff Sgt. Vincent E. Summers, 38, of South Haven, Mich.

Spec. Timothy D. Watkins, 24, of San Bernardino, Calif.

The five soldiers were assigned to 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, based at Fort Benning, Ga. They were killed Oct. 15 in Ramadi.

Cpl. Benny G. Cockerham III, 21, of Conover, N.C.

Capt. Tyler B. Swisher, 35, of Cincinnati.

The two Marines were assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force, based at Camp Lejeune, N.C. They were killed Oct. 21 in Amariyah.

* This number includes only those who have been officially identified and whose families have been notified.

All troops were killed in action unless otherwise indicated.

Total fatalities include five civilian employees of the Defense Department.
