Iraq War Deaths
Total number of U.S. military deaths and names of the U.S. troops killed in the Iraq war as announced by the Pentagon yesterday:
Sgt. Shaker T. Guy, 23, of Pomona, Calif.
Capt. Raymond D. Hill II, 39, of Turlock, Calif.
Both soldiers were assigned to Army National Guard 1st Battalion, 184th Infantry Regiment, based in Modesto, Calif. They were killed Oct. 29 in Baghdad.
Spec. William J. Byler, 23, of Ballinger, Tex.
Pfc. David J. Martin, 21, of Edmond, Okla.
Pvt. Adam R. Johnson, 22, of Clayton, Ohio.
Sgt. 1st Class, Jonathan Tessar, 36, of Simi Valley, Calif.
The four soldiers were assigned to 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, based at Fort Campbell, Ky. They were killed Oct. 31 in Mahmudiyah.
Sgt. 1st Class Matthew R. Kading, 32, of Madison, Wis. Army Reserve 983rd Engineer Battalion, based in Monclova, Ohio. Died Oct. 31 from injuries sustained near Tikrit.
All troops were killed in action unless otherwise indicated.
Total fatalities include five civilian employees of the Defense Department.
