Fla. Man Held in Deaths
Of 4 Family Members
MYAKKA CITY, Fla. -- A man was arrested Sunday in the killings of his parents, younger brother and elderly grandmother, whose bodies were found in their home, authorities said.
Richard Edgar Henderson Jr., 20, told detectives late Sunday that he had beaten his family to death with a pipe on Thanksgiving evening, Manatee County Sheriff Charlie Wells told the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
Henderson was charged with four counts of murder and was jailed without bond, authorities said. The bodies of his parents, Richard Henderson Sr., 48, and Jeaneane Henderson, 42; grandmother June Henderson, 82; and brother Jake, 11, were found earlier Sunday.
* SANTA MARIA, Calif. -- A Greyhound bus ran off a freeway, overturned and slid at least 100 yards on its side before hitting a tree, killing a pregnant woman and a man on board. Dozens of passengers aboard the San Francisco-bound bus were injured, authorities said. A preliminary investigation suggested that driver fatigue may have contributed to the crash. Faro Jahani, 50, of San Francisco and Martha Contreras, 23, of Santa Maria were killed; Contreras's husband told authorities she was seven months pregnant.
* THORNDALE, Tex. -- Six dogs mauled a woman to death as she worked in her yard, authorities said. Lillian Loraine Stiles, 76, was riding on a lawn mower when she was confronted by the dogs, described as pit bull-Rottweiler mixed breeds, said Milam County Sheriff Charlie West. The dogs were found at the home of neighbor Jose Hernandez.
