Michael Thorpe, a sales manager with Ryan Homes in Prince George's County, was awarded the Sales Manager of the Year citation of the Sales and Marketing Council of the Northern Virginia Builders Association at ceremonies held Tuesday evening in the sales pavilion of the Rotonda. The New Homes Guide also was a sponsor of the awards.

His citation noted that Thorpe had personally sold 84 houses last year with a gross volume of $4.8 million, working in four different subdivisions and also participating in sales training and administration. His prize is a seven-day, expense-paid trip to the Caribbean.

Additionally, 103 subdivision sales persons received million dollar awards, with total sales volume ranging up to $8.9 million by Lyn Phinney.

Other awards were made for best brochures of development, best advertisements, best interior design, best sales office display, best radio commerical and a grand award for a combination of all to Fairlington Villages, developed by CBI Fairmac Corp.

In another recent sales award ceremony, the Prince George's County Board of Realtors recognized Dorothy R. Duhamel as the winner of the Bill Benjamin award; Walter F. Bosch, for land and commercial sales, and Marion G. Pearl as rookie of the year.

Robert T. Baum was cited for $5 million in subdivision sales and Alfred E. Ekuban for $4 million in general brokerage sales.
