Kenneth Becker, formerly a senior project developer with the National Corp. for Housing partnerships, has formed a new development company here. His partners are H. B. Alexander & Son, Inc., and John M. Kostecky Jr., of Harrisburg, Pa.The Alexander firm will be the construction arm of the new firm. Kostecky is a planner. The Becker office has been established at 1666 K St. NW.
St. Charles, the 8,000-acre ne community in Charles County, has been awarded a grant of $68,400 from the Department of Health, Education and Welfare to conduct a feasibility study of health maintenance organizations in Charles, St. Mary's and Calvert counties.
Permanent financing of $825,000 has been obtained by the Carey Winston Co. for the Price George's Towers apartment complex in Hyattsville. The six-story building has 89 units on 3.5 acres.
The American Building at 1315-17 F St. NW has been sold for $560,000 by C. B. Hawley Jr. and others to the American Building Associates Limited Partnership.
Gross sales of $21 million 338 dwellings sold at the Westlake Park comunity near Montgomery Mall have been reported by Brisker-Campitelli Enterprises. The firm has recently opened model town houses at Westlake Terrace, where 116 dwellings will be built near a man-made lake as the final phase of Westlake park.
On the basis of a recent survey. the Washington office Julien J. Studley Inc., leasing specialists, announced that only slightly more than 1 million square feet of new office space will be available in downtown this year. The report said: "The prospect for the balance of 1978 is an extremely tight market with a lot of activity in pre-leasing of buildings to be completed in 1979."
Optional solar heating will be available in 13 houses that Marlea Development Corp. has started in the Thunder Hill Section of Columbia. Basic prices of the houses are expected to be in the $75,000 range. Models are expected to be completed in July.
