Wayne Stetson has been named staff vice president for conventions and meetings of the National Association of Home Builders. He had been assistant to the vice president of the manufacturing division of the American Mining Congress. Louis M. Thompson Jr. was promoted to staff vice president for public affairs.

Howard C. Crane has joined the Federal National Mortgage Association as vice president for corporate relations. He was director of communications for INA Corp. of Philadelphia, an insurance and financial services firm. Crane succeeds Gordon E. Nelson, who resigned several months ago to become administrative assistant to Rep. B.F. Sisk (D-Calif.).

William F. Grund has been named vice president and general manager of Alvin L. Aubinoe Inc., a building and property managing firm based in Bethesda. In his new capacity, Grund, formerly of B.F. Saul Co., will be responsible for multi-family housing and commercial space.

Lawrence J. Hill has been appointed chief of the construction and valuation section of the regional Veterans Administration office. Hill replaces Chuck Bidono, who transferred to the VA central office as the senior staff appraiser.

Laurie C. Moore has been appointed director of corporate relocation for Long and Foster realtors. Formerly president of a local publishing firm, Moore will coordinate corporate moves and provide relocation services to individuals through their employers' benefits programs.

Arthur W. Hiban has been promoted to assistant vice president of Shannon & Luchs realtors.

William Saunders has been appointed vice president and general manager of the Robert H. Kent Co.'s residential real estate sales division. Saunders, a former executive of Woodward and Lothrop, will direct corporate activities from Kent's Rockville office.

Earl H. Durand Jr. has received a citation of merit in the 1978 Innovations in Housing residential design competition. Established this year by the American Plywood Association, Better Homes and Gardens and Progressive Architecture to recognize innovative designs that solve specific problems, the competition called for energy-conserving designs. Durand's submission is being published in Progressive Architecture magazine.

Maurice M. Simpkins, former Ryland Homes divisional manager, has been appointed regional manager in the southeastern of the Ryland Group Inc.

Carl S. Hales has been appointed president of Northern Counties Lumber Inc., and Upperville, Va., firm that produces precut housing.

Frank X. Wilfong Jr., of Piper and Co. Inc. in the Baltimore area, has been named Realtor-Associate of the Year by the Maryland Association of Realtors.

Robert F. Currin, who had been director of construction for the National Housing Partnership, has been promoted to executive vice president of Capital Homes Inc., a subsidiary that develops ownership housing for low-moderate-income people.
