A 500-acre section of the Northampton development east of Largo has been renamed Newbridge and houses are being built there by Poretsky & Starr Inc., co-developer of the property with Dominion Holdings, which is headed by Howard Michnick and William J. Levitt Jr.
The Northampton Country Club, which is being renamed Newbridge Country Club, is east of Landover Road, south of Lottsford Road and north of Central Avenue (Rte. 214). Poretsky & Starr are building their first group of single-family houses near the 11th hole.
Builder Jack Starr said that the country club part of the development will be expanded to included tennis and swimming.
Models in the first section of four-and-five bedroom traditional houses are expected to be ready for showing in October. Prices will begin in the $80,000 range, Starr said. The Cohen-Haft firm is the architect.
More than 700 single-family houses are planned for the Newbridge site and later development is likely to include town houses and multi-family dwellings. The Poretsky-Starr firm has been building in Columbia and Burke Centre in recent years.
The Northampton-Newbridge development area is across Central Avenue from the large Kettering residential development of MCD Holdings Inc.
