A major Boston-based department store chain has signed to anchor the upcoming regional shopping mall located in St. Charles. The signing kicks off an exciting new stage in the center's development.
St. Charles Center, the first major shopping mall planned for Southern Maryland, will feature a combination of department stores, specialty shops, and restaurants.
The completed mall may ultimately be as large as Tysons Corner Center, with access from the St. Charles entrance. And while the center will serve the entire region, St. Charles families will have the easiest, fastest access to its doors.
Construction on the center's first section, Featuring three major tenants and numerous specialty shops, will begin by Spring 1979, with a Grand Opening slated for the following year.
St. Charles Center will be developed and managed by the firm of Wilder-Manley, creator of more than 40 major shopping malls across the nation, in a joint venture with the developers of St. Charles.
In addition, ground has been broken for a Holiday Inn neighboring the center. The Holiday Inn will feature conference facilities, a restaurant, and 110 rooms.
St. Charles Center represents a major step toward the realization of the community's master plan - a convenient and enjoyable way of life for the families of St. Charles.
