PERSONNEL NOTES . . . Gerald K. Schonemann of Schonemann Construction Co., of Germantown, has been named Contractor of the Year for the Southeast region by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. Schonemann's award, in Outstanding Residential Exterior Improvement category, was for a passive solar sunroom addition to a house in Gaithersburg . . . Prince William County announces the appointment of Dyan Lingle as the county's director of economic development. She comes to the $38,894-a-year post from a position with the Florida Department of Commerce . . . Promotions at Mount Vernon Realty: Bonnie Alfriend has been named vice president and director of the New Homes Division; Stan Stewart has been chosen to head the firm's Tysons Corner office, and Barbara Ambrose will manage the Burke office.

IN THE BUSINESS . . . The good news in housing sales keeps on coming in. Shannon & Luchs reports that its residential sales division rang up 2,192 sales in the first quarter of the year for a total volume of more than $248 million. The quarter was the firm's best ever, and the trend is up: both the D.C./Maryland and Virginia divisions set records in March, with a total of 973 homes and more than $109 million in volume. It was the first month in the company's history with sales above $100 million. But record figures were not confined to the giants. Manarin and Odle Realtors, Inc., of Alexandria also set a company record for March, with volume topping $7 million . . . It's getting to be house and garden season again. The Garden Club of Fairfax is sponsoring a tour of seven homes in McLean next Saturday. For information call 978-9282.
