The average interest rate on 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages rose to 7.93 percent this week, up from 7.85 percent last week and the highest level in two months, according to a weekly survey released Thursday by the mortgage company Freddie Mac.

Fifteen-year mortgages, a popular option for refinancing, averaged 7.53 percent this week, up from the average of 7.45 percent last week.

On one-year adjustable-rate mortgages, lenders were asking an average initial rate of 6.30 percent this week, down slightly from 6.31 percent last week.
