Juniro guard Bob Scott hit a 15-foot jump shot with six seconds remaining tonight and lifted Navy to a 56-55 upset victory over Georgetown before a full house of more than 4,300.

After Scott's basket, Georgetown called a time-out with four seconds remaining and then another after advancing the ball to midcourt with one second to play. Mike McDermott passed the ball to Derrick Jackson, open at the top of the key. His 22-footer bounced around the rim and then fell out at the buzzer.

Navy, which is unbeaten at home in six games this season, appeared to have thegame well in hand with a 51-36 lead with 9:42 to play. The Mids had gotten there with patient offense and by outrebounding the significantly taller Hoyas.

But Georgetown, using 6-foot-11, 255-pound Tom Scates for the first time in the game, then went on a 19-1 spurt and led, 55-52, with 1:54 to play. Leo Latonick Navy Guard who led all scorers with 16 points, hit a 17-foot jumper with 1:10 to play to bring the margin to 55-54.

Scott had a big hand in setting up his winning basket. He stole the ball from Al Dutch that led to a jump ball that Navy controlled.Latonick missed a 20-footer but Scott grabbed the ball rebound with 23 seconds to play and the Mids ran down the clock.

The victory advanced Navy's record to 8-5; Georgetown is now 9-3.
