The Affectionately Handicap, Saturday's feature race at Aqueduct, has been split into two divisions.

Red-hot apprentice jockey Steve Cauthen has mounts in both sections of the 1 1/6-mile test for fillies and mares, aged 3 years old and up. He will ride Dona Maya, an 8-to-1 risk, in the first division, and Illiterate, listed a 3-to-1, in the second.

Each division of the race carries the same financial pot, $50,000-added.

The early-line favorite in the first division at 3-to-1 is Shy Down, with Daryl Montoya up. She will carry 115 pounds, the same as Double Quester, to be ridden by Jesus Guadalupe. Cauthen's Dona Maya will tote 108. Also running in that section are Chain Store, Beyond Reasoning, Shawy, Northern Heires and Treacle Tart.

In the second division, Secret Lanvin, carrying top weight of 118 including jockey Angel Santiago, is the early favorite a 5-to-2 Illiterate will have 113 pounds. Others entered are Quintas Vicki, Enchanted Native, Ordination, Clifton Ruler, Mary Queenofscots and Jolly Song.

After the Affectionately, Cauthen, the 16-year-old apprentice, will be heading for Santa Anita to ride Sunday.

Saturday's Santa Anita feature will be the $50,000 added San pascual Handicap, where a field of 10 will run 1 1/16 miles.

Favored are Riot In Paris, top-weighted at 126 pounds, and Ancient Title, carrying 125. Also going are Distant Land, Good Report, Uniformity, Messenger of Song, White Fir, Exact Duplicate, Pisistrato and Bahia Key.

At Gulfstream Park, Buena Shore is considered the top contender in the $65,000 seven-furlong Sprint Championship. The 4-year-old won the opening day Renaissance Handicap by 16 lengths. Full out, third in the Renaissance, Yamanin and Never Bend figure to be the main competition.

The $27,725 Sentinel Stakes over 6 1/2 furlongs tops the card at Keystone. A field of nine 3-year-olds includes two entries and is headed by undefeated Dainty Dotsie, seeking her fifth straight victory.

Jolly John and Winter Fox each carry 114 pounds as top weights in the $25,000-added 1 1/6-mile Stryker Handicap at Bowie.

Suffolk Down's feature is the $10,000 Radar Man Handicap with Country Monarch top-weighted at 121 pounds. Stablemate Mister Prieto carries 115.
