Judy Rankin fired a final round 69 today to run away with the $50,000 LPGA Orange Blossom Classic by five strokes.
Rankin shot a 54-hole 208 to win the $7,500 first prize.
Joyce Kazmierski, who started the last round three strokes behind Rankin, was unable to keep pace with the hot-shooting Texan and finished with a par 72 for 213.
Sandra Palmer of Palm Springs, Calif., was third with 71-214.
Rankin refused to let 30-mile-an-hour winds and dropping temperatures deny her a victory in the second LPGA tournament of the year.
She turned the front nine in three-under par and held on as Kazmierski began to falter on the back nine.
Kazmierski pocketed $5,040 and Palmer took home $3,620.
Rankin wa last year's leading money winner.
"Normally, I'm a pretty good wind player," Rankin said. "I am usually able to keep the ball low. I'm experienced at playing the wind.
"I think I make a lot better club choice than a lot of the players. I see few players who take enough club."
Rankin was eight-under for the tourney at the turn and birdied the 11th and 13th holes for a seven-stroke lead over Kazmierski. But then she ran into trouble, bogeying the 15th and 16th.
Kazmierski also had problems on the back nine. She failed to card a birdie and bogeyed the par-three 13th and three-putted and 15th for another bogey.
