Five Northern Virginia wrestlers will bid for state crowns here tonightin the championship round of the Virginia AAA state wrestling tournament.

Maury of Norfolk leads the team scoring with 46 points after today's second round. Falls Church, Lake Braddock and Oakton, all from Northern Virginia, rank in the top 10 in scoring.

Falls Church has two wrestlers in the finals. Bob Passino (19-1) will wrestler Neal Wilson of Churchland at 112 pounds, and John Hanrahan will go against Bryan Smith of Cox (Virginia Beach).

Hanrahan, 21-2, finished third at 126 pounds in last year's tourney.

Oakton's Mike McGibbon (18-1) wi 11 tacke Highland Springs' Buddy Lee (21-0) in the 126-poound final.

At heavyweight, Lake Braddock's unbeaten Bob Klaren (21-0), with two tournament pins, will wrestle Churchland's Bobo Ricks, who was third a year ago.

Northern Virginia wrestlers in the consolation round include Robinson's Bucky Kirby (112), Lake Braddock's Pat Griel (119), Pat Smith (126), Tony McDonald (145) and Matt Klaren (185) Herndon's Steve Danenberg (132) and Gar-Field's Byrant McReynolds (132) and Jimmy Jones (154).

Also, Madison's John Maguschak (138), Langley's Eric Vance (138), Mount Vernon's Mike Crytzer (145), Chantilly's Bret Petterson (154), William's Kelly Lynch (185), and Oakton's Nick Paulette (heavyweight).

Last year's state champion, Menchville, has 27 1/2 points to rank ninth with seven of the top 10 teams from Virginia's Eastern region.
