Steve Bandy's Mr. Hyde, a Cal 25, combined a triumph in the weekend's final event of Chesapeake Bay Race Week with an earlier first and two seconds and today was awarded the Trig Bowl for best overall performace in the 10-class, 200-boat fleet.
Yellow Jacket, owned by the Bulman Scholz Winston syndicate and competing in IOR B. won the Mount Gay Rum trophy for best overall standing in the three-class IOR fleet. It had two first in the four-race series.
Also taking overall honors were E. S. Groo's Blue Angel in IOR A. J. Haye's Flying Curcus in IOR C. Ben Fowke's Blue Phrop in Delta I. and Charles Smith Jr.'s Uh-Oh in Delta II.
Other overall winners were James Scott's James Gang in MORC A. F. V. Minson's Windborn in Alberg 30, K.T. Buritsch's Henne in Racing Divisoon.
The "Round the Buoys" race was sailed in light and variable winds most of the morning and afternoon with increasing southerly winds toward sunset.
The larger boats sailed a 32-mile course which took them to Tilghman Point in Eastern Bay, while the smaller boats sailed a 19-mile course which included a turn at Kent Point.
