It will be Boo against Bouie and fellow trees when American hosts Syracuse, the top-ranked Eastern team, in the feature game of tonight's college basketball schedule at Ft. Myer at 8 o'clock.
Boo is Russell (Boo) Bowers of American, an explosive freshman forward who scored 31 points early in the season and 24 in the Eagles' Saturday night victory over Delaware, which brought the Eagles' record to 4-4.
Sophomore guard Mike Abner leads American in scoring at 13.9 points per game. Howie Lassoff, a 6-foot-10 senior center, hopes to offset Syracuse's frightening height.
Roosevelt Bouie teams with Dan Schayes for two 6-11 oaks in Syracuse's front court. Schayes is the son of Dolph Schayes, former New York University and Syracuse National great.
Marty Byrnes and Louis Orr lead the Orangemen in scoring with 15.6 and 14.1 averages. Syracuse, 6-1 (its loss was to Dayton), is ranked 10th by UPI and 12th by Ap in this week's polls.
In other college games tonight, Montgomery-Takoma Park is at Montgomery-Rockville at 7:30 p.m., Prince George's Community College is at Anne Arundel Community College at 8 and Chesapeake CC plays at Charles CC at 7:30.
