Holy Cross knocked off 16th-ranked Sherwood, 57-41, and 11th-ranked St. Anthony's, 53-33, last week to run its season record to 11-0 and remain atop The Washington Post's weekly area high school girls basketball ranking.

Eastern (12-1) easily handled Theodore Roosevelt, 63-22, to remain in the No. 2 spot.

Friendly (9-0) and Ballou (12-1) notched two easy triumphs to stay in the third and fourth positions. Friendly romped past Eleanor Roosevelt, 78-39, and Oxen Hill, 79-44, to maintain its one-game lead over Surrattsville in the Prince Georges' AB league. Ballou whipped Coolidge, 65-38, and Cardoza, 69-43, to stay a game behind Interhigh leader Eastern.

Springbrook (6-0) and Seneca Valley (6-0), each recorded a victory to stay in the fifth and sixth spots.

McLean, (4-0), Crossland (7-1), and H.D. Woodson, (8-1) took advantage of losses by St. Anthony's and O'Connell to move up into the seventh, eight and ninth positions.

St. Anthony's, bombed by Holy Cross, and O'Connell, nipped by St. Gertrude's of Richmond, 49-47, in overtime, suffered their first losses. O'Connell (7-1) fell 10th, one place ahead of St. Anthony's (5-1).
