Two national championship meets today and tomorrow head the weekend auto racing program. The $40,000 Winston Cup drag racing series is at Maryland International Raceway, Budda Creek, and the Don Beyer Nationals for road racers machines will be held at Summit Point (W.Va) Raceway.

Five professional drag car classes race in the Winston meet. Top Fuel and Pro Stock race tonight at 8 p.m. The Funny Car, Pro Comp and Sportman finals are Sunday at 1 p.m.

Practice and qualifying for the road races begins at 8:30 a.m. today. The first of eight half-hour title races tomorrow starts at 9:30 a.m., rain or shine, over the two-mile course.

Stock cars and Figure Eight racing returns to Dorsey at 7:30 p.m. tonight. Old Dominion Speedway, Manassas, has a regular nine-race show for stock cars at 8 p.m.

The eight annual Schaefer 500-miler for Indianapolis cars is tomorrow at 1 p.m. over the three-cornered Pocone Raceway near Hazleton, Pa. Thirty-three cars will start with A. J. Foyt after his third victory there.

Wednesday night is the first Capitol Area Racers Benefit Fund meet for drag racers at Maryland International. Carol Henson, of Alexandria will race the best of local draggers. Proceeds go to the fund for injured drivers. Racing begins at 8 p.m. at the quarter-mile strip.
