The Washington Capitals will play an increased portion of their 1978-79 hockey season within their Division.

The Caps will meet Norris Division foes Montreal, Pittsburgh, Detroit and Los Angeles eight times - up from six - this season.Residing in the only five-team division in the National Hockey League, the Caps will play 32 of their 80 games within their division.

With the All-Star break extended to 10 days to allow a three-game series with theRussian All-Stars, the Caps otherwise will enjoy fewer days off during the upcoming campaign.
