Last year's offense did not have a good year, according to Coach John Organ, but the trend could be reversed with the return of the entire front line.

Tackles Sid Gardner (235 pounds) and Len Wooten (230) provide the foundation. Randy Williams and Ray Nichols will battle for the center position; Roger Briscoe and two-way man Ernest Livers (guard and tackle) will also offer support.

Freshmen Antonio Fountain and Darrell Riley, along with sophomore and parttime starter William Stewart, will contest the quarterback slot. Wide receivers Allen Roots and Arthur Fuller are both back from last season's 3-7 squad.

Defensively, the Bulldogs will be strong at linebacker with starters Ben Bennett and David Nickens, regular substitute Steve Lee and 225-pound transfer Garland Branch. Victor Jackson is the only returning starter in the secondary.

Twins Keith and Kevin Coates, coming off a "superb year" in the opinion of Organ, will start at the defensive ends. In between them, the tackles are inexperienced.

"To show how weak our offense was last season," said Organ, "one of the Coates twins -- I don't know them apart --was our leading scorer going into the final game last year." Whoever it was recovered a pair of opposition fumbles in the end zone.
